Roommates, for years girls have been inspired by Barbie dolls. And now, Barbie dolls are being inspired by us! For the company’s 60th anniversary, Barbie has expanded its collection of ‘Sheroe’ dolls with 20 new inspiring women, including our good sis Yara Shahidi!

The company released its new dolls in their Instagram story, honoring each amazing woman with their own look-alike Barbie for their leadership in art, technology, sports, media and business.

“In celebration of our 60th anniversary and International Women’s Day, we proudly honor #MoreRoleModels than ever from around the globe in an effort to inspire young girls,” Barbie wrote.

Barbie chose one inspiring woman to honor each of the 20 country’s they had chosen. Yara reps the U.S, Naomi Osaka was chosen for Japan, and the list goes on!

As a lead star on ‘Grown-ish’ and founder of Yara’s Club in partnership with The Young Women’s Leadership Schools in NYC, Yara took to Instagram to express her excitement for the cause.

“I’m honored to be repping all the young ones as a Barbie Role Model,’ she wrote. Let’s continue to inspire the next generation and each other. We need your voices and are watching you all blossom and shine!”

One dollar from every doll sold will go toward the Dream Gap Project, Mattel’s latest initiative to “level the playing field for girls,” according Mattel’s most recent press release.

Senior Vice President of Barbie, Lisa McKnight, expresses the companies largest goal, which is to inspire women to be more every single day.

“The Barbie brand believes girls should never know a world, job or dream women haven’t conquered. Through our global platform, we are igniting a movement to help close the Dream Gap and further establish Barbie as the ultimate girl empowerment brand.”
