A woman found inside her South Chicago home, severely beaten with blunt force head trauma, has not yet been identified and remained in critical condition Saturday morning.
The woman’s neighbor found her lying in blood around 4 a.m. inside the two-story house in the 3000 block of East 80th Street, according to police. Her injuries include fractures to her skull and a broken arm, police said.
A metal object was next to the woman’s body, police said.
Blue lights flashed on a Chicago police car as it followed an ambulance north up South Shore Drive, taking the woman to University of Chicago Medical Center.
Police cars lined the street near the house, on the south side of 80th Street. A strip of red police tape stretched across the metal railings alongside the first step up to the front door.
Area South detectives were investigating but had not made any arrests.
