Last night UPTOWN Magazine hosted its annual Pre-Oscar Gala honoring director, writer, and producer Lee Daniels at Fig & Olive Restaurant in West Hollywood, CA.
The evening celebrated Lee for his extraordinary work – including his critically acclaimed films The Butler, Monsters Ball, Precious, and the new sensation “Empire.” In the photo above, he posed with Brandy and Mike and Mechelle Epps. Lee is currently working with Mike, who’s been cast as Richard Pryor in the upcoming bio pic.
The evening brought out the Who’s Who of Hollywood. In the pic above, rocker Courtney Love (who appears on “Empire”) posed with director Mario Van Peebles, iconic singer Gladys Knight and actress Kate Hudson.
Famed actress and director Debbie Allen was spotted hugging Lee. Debbie has recently directed episodes of “Scandal” and “Empire.”
Lynn Whitfield posed with singing sensation Brandy. Hmmm…..are the ladies going to pop up on “Empire” as well?
Brandy got a peck on the cheek from actor Bryshere Gray who plays Hakeem, the youngest son of Lucious Lyon.
“Selma” star David Oyelowo was on hand to celebrate Lee’s accomplishments. David appeared in Lee’s hit The Butler.
The dinner was hosted by funnyman Chris Spencer. In the pic above, he posed with “Empire” stars Trai Byers, Bryshere Gray, Jussie Smollett.

Actress Paula Patton was also among the 300 VIPS invited to the dinner.
Comedian Torrei Hart posed with “Empire” stars Grace Gealey and Bryshere Gray.
Last night at The Beverly Hilton in Beverly Hills, the 2nd Annual “unite4:humanity” gala was held, honoring celebrities and their outstanding charitable efforts.
Academy Award-winning actress Halle Berry, received the Creative Conscience Award, for her work with the Jenesee Center.
She was presented the award by talk show host and Oscar-nominee Queen Latifah.
Young Hollywood starlet Zendaya Coleman was also among the evening’s honorees (who also included P!nk, Amy Poehler and Christina Applegate).
Zendaya wore a Solace London Spring 2015 White Sheer Jett Crop Top and Banford Pants.
After her acceptance speech, she posed for a few flicks with her dear friend Demi Lovato.
Queen Latifah also posed with Saint Vintage founder and designer Paige Jansen-Nichols.
Although Halle and Zendaya were honored, the big prize went to Queen Latifah who was spotted leaving with a magnum of Champagne Piper-Heidsieck!
