Several inches of snow could fall overnight, making Monday morning’s commute slippery and possibly treacherous, according to the National Weather Service.
A winter weather advisory runs from 6 p.m. Sunday through about noon Monday, the weather service said.
Three to 5 inches of snow are possible in several counties, including Cook, DuPage, Will, and other areas in the northeast and north-central portions of Illinois and in northwest Indiana.
Slippery roads and an “elevated excessive cold risk’’ are predicted as well as “localized ice jam flooding’’ of area rivers, according to the weather service.
Hazardous driving and slippery roads are expected to run through the Monday morning commute, and motorists should be prepared for reduced visibility at times.
