Will Smith’s big premiere for his Concussion film went down last night in Hollywood. We’ve got the hot pics of him and wife Jada, his reunion with Martin Lawrence, and his controversial words about racism….
Before walking down the red carpet at his big premiere last night, Will appeared on The Hollywood Reporter’s annual actor roundtable where he explained the difference between race and prejudice. Interestingly, the Hollywood star gave some controversial comments about it all. Yes, even in a time of prevalent racism, police brutality and injustice, Will seems quite unclear about just HOW prevalent racism actually is.
“Everybody is prejudiced,” he said. “Everybody has their life experiences that make them prefer one thing over another — it makes them prefer blond hair over a brunette; if you see somebody with dark skin walking down the street, you have a different reaction than you have [with] someone who is 5-foot-1 and white.”
The word “racism,” he said, implies something worse: the feeling that “your race generally is superior.”
“And I have to say, I live with constant prejudice, but racism is actually rare — someone who thinks their race is superior,” Smith continued.
Well, sometimes when you’re in the top 1% of the top 1%, you may not feel the effects of racism as much as others. So it may be rare….for you. But nah, it’s not rare in general, Will. We guess the question here really is, why minimize the narrative around racism on such a public and powerful platform? Shouldn’t we broaden the narrative when given such a platform?
Will showed up to the Regency Village Theatre in Hollywood with his gorgeous wife Jada Pinkett last night. His role as Dr. Bennet Omal, a catalyst in the investigation of concussions in the NFL, is getting plenty of Oscar buzz. So his wife showed up and showed out to stan for her man.
Yasss! Jada looked stunning in a sheer and silver Zuhair Murad gown for the fab occasion.
Look who else came out to support his homie:
Yep, Martin Lawrence! We’ve been hearing rumors that a Bad Boys 4 is in the works, and we are totally here for it.
Tommy Davidson came out to support the homie.
Will’s “Fresh Prince” co-star Alfonso Ribeiro was there with his wife Angela.
Ex-NFLer Terrell Owens got all dressed up for the carpet.
Actresses Garcelle Beauvais and Vivica Fox — both of whom played Will Smith’s on screen wife/love interest previously — hit the event to support their long time friend.
Will also posed it up with the real life Dr. Bennet Omalu as well. Concussion hits theaters on Christmas Day.
