R&B singer Tyrese was honored with the Entertainer of the Year, presented by Martin Luther King III. Nice! He also received a special message from his homie Ludacris praising his efforts. He later hit the stage for an exciting performance of his chart-topping hit single “Shame”.
“Survivor’s Remorse” star Tichina Arnold was tapped to host the event. But before she got to her hosting duties, she worked the carpet in a black and white printed high-waisted skirt styled with a red blouse.
Grammy Award winning singer Estelle looked gorge in a black with gold accents dress. She performed her anthem Conqueror” to in honor honoree Rev. Dr. Joseph E. Lowery for his work with the civil rights movement.
YBF fave Jazemine Sullivan was her usual bubbly self, rocking a cute look. LOVING the skirt.
She later slipped into a black caped dress to show off those curves before she hit the stage to perform a rendition of Nina Simone’s “Baltimore.”
T.I. delivered an original spoken word piece titled “United We Stand,” to encourage the youth to stay focused on the meaning behind the Black Lives Matter movement.
“Hollywood Divas” star and singer Chanté Moore and R&B singer Stokley Williams posed it up on the carpet before they hit the stage.
Blonde bombshell Eva Marcille looked amazing in red and lace for last night’s festivities.
Girlfriends Getaway 2 star Terri Vaughn stood out on the carpet in her printed skirt. She was tapped to present an award.
Rev. Al Sharpton brought his family along for the ceremony.
He later snapped flicks with Tyrese and the honorees, including civil rights leader Rev. Dr. Joseph Echols Lowery (who received the Chairman’s Award for Historic & Transformative Service) and actress/comedienne Wanda Sykes (who received the Activism in the Arts).
Former “R&B Divas” star Syleena Johnson was all smiles in a super short iridescent bodycon. She hit the stage to present an award.
News personality and presenter Soledad O’Brien came out to support.
On the stage….
Not only did Tichina host, she also hit the stage to perform. Tichina got all into character channling the Godfather of Soul, James Brown for a show-stopping cover of “I Got The Feelin.” Her former “Martin” co-star Carl Payne joined her on stage for a comedic enactment of “Cause I Love You” then they rocked the house with the grand finale “Wake Up Everybody.”
Chante & Stokley serenaded the audience with Donny Hathaway’s“Someday We’ll All Be Free”.
Songstress Ledisi performed her hit single “Gonna Be Alright” championing Rev. Al Sharpton, whose 61st birthday coincides with the broadcast premiere (Oct. 3rd).
Wanda hit the stage to accept her award as she was honored for her years of service to youth homelessness and engagement within the LGBT community.
The inaugural television broadcast of The 2015 Triumph Awards will air on Saturday, October 3 at 8PM/ET on TV One.
