The Wise County Sheriff’s office in Newark, TX is investigating how an 11 year old obtained weed-laced rice crispy treats which were then shared with 4 other students. Wise County Sheriff Lane Akin said that he believed that the students knowingly ate the edibles.

As for how the students got busted, the sheriff says that their…appearances have them away.
“[The teachers] noticed the children’s eyes were glassy, more laughter than usual, motors skills were impaired,” the sheriff said. “One of them became combative.”

The school district sent letters to parents and relayed their outrage from the incident. Two of the students were processed in the juvenile system, but were not arrested.
