Roommates, we know it’s been a crazy Black History Month so far, but some people have really been putting on for the culture! East Los Angeles Community College football player, Toni Harris, has officially signed a letter of intent to a Division I college in Missouri.
Harris, a 5’7” safety, played the last two seasons at the community college before being offered a scholarship by Central Methodist University.
Sis is no regular football player, though! She starred in a Super Bowl Commercial for Toyota earlier this year, which focused on exceeding performance expectations. Landing that role made Harris the first female football player to appear in an ad during the big game.
The 22-year-old chose Central Methodist over offers from Bethany College, Adams State University, Graceland University, and Kentucky Christian University. She says her ultimate goal is eventually to make it to the NFL.
Harris began playing football at the age of 6 in her hometown of Detroit. She eventually played wide receiver and cornerback at Redford Union High School in Michigan. She initially had a difficult time finding a junior college that would let her play football, but says she was blessed to have had an opportunity at East Los Angeles College.
“The NFL is the dream,” Harris said. “I’m going to be working toward that until the death of me. WhetherI go drafted or undrafted, I’m pretty sure I’m going to keep my faith and God is going to take me there.”
