Chicago is a city known for multi-talented artists and musicians however there is an amazing mecca of Independent Film Makers that are making plenty of noise at film festivals and more.  Jeff Robertson is definitely someone you should know.

Gumbumper will be conducting an exclusive interview with him soon.  In the meantime we have gotten a sneak preview of his new film, Madison and State which is a dramatic series set in Chicago. Inner city school teacher, Derrick Williams struggles to redeem and justify his brother’s life of crime, while trying to find meaning in his own.

 Derrick Williams is a steady conservative school teacher with two children, one precocious teenage son who idolizes his uncle, and a teenage daughter who struggles with her sexuality.  Derrick and his wife Sandra struggle with parenthood, and the peaks and valleys of marriage and life in general.

Derrick’s rock and mentor is Father Fisher a white Catholic priest in the mold of Father Phleger, who loves Derrick and his brother Nate, but clings to Derrick because of his lifestyle and devotion to family and his brothers’ redemption.

Madison and State is a story about the dysfunction of love and family that will tug at the emotions of viewers on many levels and provoke thought and discussion.  Set in Chicago it is packed with talent from the windy city that all will enjoy!
