Grammy winner Toni Braxton announced via Twitter that she’s hospitalized for issues related to Lupus. The 45-year-old Braxton also told fans not to worry about her and thanked them “for all the love and support.”
Braxton announced in 2010 that she had lupus, a chronic autoimmune disease that can damage any part of the body.
Lupus strikes mostly women between the ages of 15-44. Women of color are two-to-three times more likely to develop lupus, according to the Lupus Foundation of America.
Braxton said in a recent “20/20” interview that doctors told her the Lupus diagnosis meant her performing career would likely be diminished and the disease helped push her into a recent bankruptcy.
