Actress Shirley Mitchell, believed to be the last surviving cast member from I Love Lucy, has died at the age of 94.
Mitchell joined the cast of the acclaimed sitcom in 1953 with a reoccurring part that lasted two seasons. In totally, she appeared in three episodes.
Her character is best remembered as the woman who originally set up Lucy with Ricky on their first date.
The role was originated by Margie Liszt before Mitchell took over the part.
Mitchell’s other notable television roles included playing Mae Belle Jennings in Pettycoat Junction, Marge Thornton in Please Don’t Eat the Daisies and reoccurring roles on variety shows such as The Jack Benny Program and The Red Skelton Hour.
Mitchell’s feature film parts included roles in classic comedies such as Jamboree and Desk Set.
