Lord 2017 was looking up until we got word that Scandal may ending sooner than we thought!
According to TV Line, ABC is expected to make a formal announcement about Scandal’s season 7 being the final season. Apparently it was Shonda Rhimes’ decision to pull the plug in a need to keep the show’s authenticity.
“I feel like there is a finite amount of Scandal to be told,” Rhimes previously told NPR. “So I know what the end of Scandal will be, and I feel really good about that. And I can see where the end point is. And I don’t think I’m going to change that.”
The show has averaged 5.6 million tota viewers and 1.5 demo rating which is a 20 to 30% decline from its season 4 ratings.
ABC and Rhimes have not commented directly on the cancellation as of yet.
“I know how long the show is going to run, and I know how it’s going to end, and I’m excited about it,” Rhimes recently told EW at Scandal‘s 100th episode party. When asked whether that would be soon, Rhimes kept mum. “I’m not commenting on that.”
