Fans of the ‘At Last’ singer Etta James will be able to pay their respects at a public memorial service that will take place on Friday evening at the Inglewood Cemetery in California, according to CNN.
This will take place ahead of a private funeral for the legendary singer’s “immediate family and friends”, which will be held on Saturday January 28 at Greater Bethany Community Church City of Refuge in Gardena, California.
The Reverend Al Sharpton will preside over the private event, and a statement from his representative has said that the funeral will include performances from celebrities, however, these names have not been announced.
Etta James died aged 73 on Friday after suffering from complications from leukaemia, dementia and hepatitis C.
The singer’s spokesperson Rachel Noerdlinger said there would be “limited media access” for the service and Etta’s family have requested that all donations to got to The Rhythm & Blues Foundation.
