Last night, the cast of Fox’s Empire, the biggest success story of the 2014–2015 season, took over The Theatre at Ace Hotel DTLA for a live Q&A with their biggest fans.
The panel was hosted by Entertainment Weekly reporter Tim Stack is and included cast members Terrence Howard, Taraji P. Henson, Trai Byers, Jussie Smollett, Bryshere Gray, Kaitlin Doubleday, and Grace Gealey—as well as co-creators Lee Daniels and Danny Strong and executive producers Brian Grazer and Ilene Chaiken. And for an added treat, all three of the “Lyon” sons showed off their musical talent.
On the carpet…
It’s definitely Taraji P. Henson’s time. As Cookie Lyon, she’s become one of the most unforgettable tv characters in recent years and we LIVE for her fashions, furs and ponytails. And of course, that slick mouth that gets her both in and out of trouble. Werk Taraji!

Gorgeous actor Trai Byers looked dapper on the red carpet. Did you know that he sings too? He performed “Lately.”
Grace Gealey aka Boo Boo Kitty rocked a white crop top and pink pastel slacks. Nice!
On the panel…..
Taraji and Terrence, whom also worked together on Hustle & Flow dished on their on-camera chemistry. And Terrence revealed the story we’ve all head before that Taraji played a big part in him getting cast as Lucious.
And Terrence touched up her ponytail too!
Lee opened up about creating the show and how he pulled from his own life experiences.
Jussie Smollett performed “You’re So Beautiful” and revealed how playing Jamal inspires him to walk in his truth.
Bryshere flexed his rapping skills.
Kaitlin Doubleday, who plays Trai’s on-camera wife Rhonda, rocked it in a spring-ready cocktail dress.

Jussie talked about “standing” in his truth and how the “Jamal” character has changed his life and impacted life of “Empire” fans.
