I like to send my prayers out to my friend who lost her little cousin, 15-year old Deon Gilbert, a football player at Noble Charter School’s Butler College …
Chicago police say it happened late Friday night.
Fox 32’s Tisha Lewis reports the teenage victim was walking with a friend when he was gunned down. The killer emerged from a dark colored mini-van and fired a shot striking the teen in the stomach before taking off.
It’s a shame, what’s going on in Chicago……Deon was a star football player at Butler College Prep with dreams that included college. It all came to an abrupt end late Friday night when police say he was fatally shot near Trumbull Park.
He was with a friend at the time and likely never saw it coming.
Gilbert was a sophomore and the youngest of four siblings.
Relatives and friends offered condolences at the family’s South Deering home.
“All this killing, it’s just sad, it’s just absolutely sad…15-years-old…15, exactly. I have a 20-year-old, 18-year-old, 17-year-old and an 11-year-old and I wouldn’t know what to do if something happened to one of them,” said Richardson.
Deon Gilbert is another reminder why more solutions are needed.
Grief counselors will be at Butler College Prep this week for students and staff.
Police say Gilbert was initially in stable condition when he was transported to The University of Chicago Medicine Comer Children’s Hospital.
He took a turn for the worse and was later pronounced dead.
Chicago WE got to do better, we are KILLING our FUTURE!!
