Police were investigating a shooting on the Dan Ryan Expressway on Chicago’s South Side Thursday afternoon.
Authorities confirmed the shooting took place in the northbound lanes of the expressway at 33rd Street.
Police said the victim reported he was driving in the middle lane of the roadway when his rear window was shot out and his vehicle struck multiple times by the gunman’s van.
Police said the shooter was in a silver or gray van that exited at 31st Street and went on in an unknown direction. No one was in custody as of Thursday evening.
Local lanes were closed just before 5 p.m. for an investigation beginning at 35th Street, near Guaranteed Rate Field, home of the Chicago White Sox.
The shooting was the latest in a series of shootings on Chicago’s South Side, where five people were found dead Thursday afternoon.
