A 21-year-old man has died from gunshot wounds after police found him just after midnight Monday in Chicago Heights, police said.
Chicago Heights police found Jose L. Calderon, of Chicago Heights, sitting in the driver’s seat of a parked white Chevy SUV with gunshot wounds in his head and upper body near the alley of the first block of West 19th Street.
Police had been responding to report of a shooting on that block at 12:21 a.m.
Police said Calderon was transported to St. James Hospital in Chicago Heights and later flown to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn where he was pronounced dead at 4:11 p.m.
An autopsy is scheduled for Tuesday.
