Kanye West has been facing a lot of heat from pretty much the entire African-American community for his relationship with Donnie, and while many have turned their backs on one of the most respected men in the music industry, one celebrity is still in Ye’s corner despite his controversial political views!

Pharrell sat down for an exclusive interview with Complex, and they touched on Kanye.

“We have to love our brother, regardless. We might not agree with him, but we can’t stand by and watch anything happen to him, because he’s our brother. And we’ve gotta pay attention to the symbolism of what’s happening, you know? That’s our brother,” he said. “Never have we ever, in history, have we ever witnessed a staple in the community be utilized in that way. In that kind of way, with that kind of real impression. So I look at the symbolism of that and I say, man, that’s our brother. We don’t want to abandon him because we fundamentally disagree. We care about his well-being.”

He let it be known that he doesn’t agree with Kanye’s stance on certain political issues.

“I’m not siding with him at all. I said that’s our brother and we can’t give up on him,” he said. “I’m not siding with him in any of that. What I’m looking at is his DNA. He’s our brother, he’s human. You know what I’m saying? That’s what it really boils down to. At the end of the day man, like, you gotta understand that even when there is division, we’re still one.”

It’s clear some people on Twitter just aren’t feeling Yé like that anymore.

“You burned every supporter you had when you sided with @realDonaldTrump.”

“Until @kanyewest says “fuck Donald trump” I’m not on board with Ye. Don’t wear no 350’s ‘round me”

“Rich Black Democrats are afraid to publicly support Donald Trump because it would be uncomfortable at their Hollywood parties. Just look at what happened to Kanye West, and how he was called a “house negro” “that’s what happens when a Black guy doesn’t read” etc on CNN”

“@kanyewest Please, stop playing with people. @realDonaldTrump is garbage. Where’s the “@georgebush doesn’t care about white people” after Katrina #Kanye? Can we have him back?”

Kanye distanced himself from Trump a few weeks ago after feeling used, so time will tell if Kanye earns the support from some of his fans back. But on the bright side, at least he has Pharrell!
