A few powerful women were honored at Variety’s Power of Women Luncheon yesterday, including media mogul Oprah Winfrey. Meanwhile, Gabrielle Union was by her man Dwyane Wade’s side to celebrate his new Ocean Drive magazine cover. More inside….

“black•ish” mom Tracee Ellis Ross sure knows how to brighten up a carpet. The 42-year-old actress popped up in a printed off-the-shoulder Vivienne Westwood dress paired with Manolo Blahnik pumps at Variety’s Power of Women Luncheon (presented by LIFETIME) held at the Beverly Wilshire Hotel yesterday.

She was tapped to host the event, which honored women in the entertainment industry who use their public platform to raise awareness and work toward charitable causes.

“black•ish” cutie Yara Shahidi always looks age-appropriate and fashionable simultaneously.

Actress Thandie Newton found time in between filming her new sci-fi Western series “Westworld” to turn heads on the carpet. The “Rogue” starlet kept it colorful on the carpet in a fuchsia wrap skirt, a green and brown printed shirt and fuchsia peep-toe pumps. Beautiful.

Variety covergirl Oprah Winfrey was one of the honorees of the evening along with Salma Hayek Pinault, Anna Kendrick, Gwyneth Paltrow and YouTube CEO Susan Wojcicki.

The media mogul was recognized for her humanitarian work with her Oprah Winfrey Leadership Academy Foundation. Before taking the podium to deliver her speech, she was introduced by her good friend and fab directress Ava DuVernay. After her introduction, Oprah encouraged everyone to give back and reflected on moments where she was able to give back to those less fortunate. She said,

“I have always known this about celebrity. The real power is understanding that what Salma has done, what Susan has done, what Gwyneth has done, what Rebecca has done, what Jim has done, is you, too, can do [it] because true philanthropy comes from living from the heart of yourself and giving what you have been given. What we’ve done, you can do. The real empowerment comes when each person leaves this room and makes a decision.”

She then reflected on a powerful message she received from the late Maya Angelou:

“Your legacy is seen in those whose lives you’ve touched. – Maya Angelou “It’s a beautiful thing to receive an award and to be on the cover of Variety,” Winfrey said. “But the true reward comes from the lives you have been able to touch and you know that you have impacted.”

Loves it!

Following her speech, Lady O snapped it up with the other honorees of the evening. Hollywood veteran and philanthropist Jada Pinkett-Smith was also in attendance.

At another event yesterday….

“Being Mary Jane” starlet Gabrielle Union was on her wifely duties supporting her man Dwyane Wade for his newest magazine cover.

The 42-year-old actress and her 33-year-old Miami Heat baller husband were front-and-center at the Ocean Drive men magazine’s party held at the Stripsteak restaurant inside the Fontainebleau Hotel in Miami Beach.

Well don’t they look madly in love.

Here’s a peek at D. Wade’s cover:

Over on the ‘gram….

Gabby posed it up with her step-son Zaire and one of his friends before leaving captioning, “Lil lecture from my 8th grade bodyguards before steppin out… they said they would be waiting up and not to miss curfew … oh the youth” Ha! Cute.

After the party…

It was a “Netflix and chill” type of night. Fun times.
