A Louisiana police officer and a woman he was assisting was shot and killed Friday. The man suspected of killing the two has been on the run all morning and was threatening to jump off of a New Orleans Bridge.

According to Fox News, Officer Michael Louviere, 26, had pulled over around 6:30 a.m. to help the female victim because he thought she was involved in a car crash. While he was helping the woman he was shot in the back of the head by the suspect, Sylvester Holt, and then he shot and killed his girlfriend.

Prior to this tragic incident, police received a 911 call from a woman who said her boyfriend had shot her, and another from a caller reporting a domestic dispute, according to CBS News.

Sylvester could be seen pacing back and forth along the side of the bridge and crisis negotiators were apparently at the scene “communicating with a suicidal individual,” the New Orleans Times-Picayune reported.
