First Lady Michelle Obama and the fabulous First Daughters are still in Europe visiting military families while President Obama is in California for a series of DNC fundraisers, including one at Tyler Perry’s house. Deets and photos inside…
Following their visit to the American School in Milian yesterday, First Lady Michelle Obama her daughters admired the beauty of the historic city during a sightseeing tour:
The ladies where photographed on top of the Duomo gothic cathedral. Photographers says they witnessed the Obamas lighting candles in honor of the church members killed in South Carolina.
We have to admit, Sasha didn’t seem pleased to be there. Or maybe she was just have a “teenaged” moment…
The first family spent time with soldiers and their families at the US Army Garrison in Vicenza, Italy.
The visit is a part of Michelle’s “Joining Forces” Initiative which urges and encourages all Americans to rally around military members and their families.
While at the base, FLOTUS did a book-reading with children and she met with expectant mothers to discuss the challenges faced by military families stationed overseas. A part of the trip including shopping for baby clothes (and making funny faces).
During her speech to the troops and their families, FLOTUS Michelle Obama commented on the Charleston shooting saying, “I pray … with the hope that tragedies like these will one day come to an end.” She added that we must take action and true change goes beyond rhetoric.

President Obama (shown above in LA) headed to California to raise money for the DNC yesterday, but the trip’s focus shifted once news broke about the capture of the man who’s responsible for the tragic shootings at the Charleston, SC Emanuel AME church.
One dinner amongst the Hollywood set was $2,500-per-person and POTUS chose to speak on the Charleston shootings before the crowd of about 250 people.
“To see such a horrific event unfold like that is particularly shocking and it’s a reminder that we’ve got a lot of work to do. There is something particularly heartbreaking about a death happening in a place in which we seek solace and we seek peace.”
POTUS added that he and First Lady Michelle Obama knew Rev. Clementa Pinckney, pastor of Emanuel AME Church, personally and very well.
He also said,
We don’t have all the facts, but we do know that, once again, innocent people were killed in part because someone who wanted to inflict harm had no trouble getting their hands on a gun…“at some point, we as a country have to reckon with the fact that this type of mass violence does not happen in other advanced countries.”
POTUS hit a $2500-$33,000/plate fundraising dinner at Tyler Perry’s California home as well.
What do you think, is the #CharlestonShooting about race or gun control? We have our thoughts….
