Syndicated Columnist Charles Krauthammer said Thursday on “Special Report with Bret Baier” that while the House was successful in getting the Republican-backed health care bill passed, ObamaCare “wins the day” in the overall debate.
While Republicans were successful in passing legislation, Krauthammer, a Fox News Contributor, said ObamaCare wins because it has changed the conversation regarding health care.
Republicans have “accepted the fact the electorate sees health care as not just any commodity,” he said. “It’s something that people now have a sense that the government ought to guarantee.”
“The irony is, that in the end, I think Obamacare wins the day because it changed expectations,” Krauthammer added. “And many Americans now see health care as their right”
The syndicated columnist said Republicans will suffer at the polls in the future just like Democrats did upon passing ObamaCare, which will cause not only a seat change and opinion change, but a change to the entire health system.
“There are only two ways to go, radically individualist system where the market rules or to single-payer and the country is not going to go back to radically individualist,” he said.
Krauthammer added that Senate Republicans will not pass the House version of the bill, but come up with a plan of their own, albeit a “rickety” one.
