Kanye West is opening up about how he lost a few friends after he started dating Kim Kardashian. Find out why they turned their backs on him and peep the pics of Ye and Taylor Swift dining in NYC inside…
We all know how badly Kanye West wants to be “accepted” into the fashion world. But, entering into the industry he so desperately wants to be a part of came with even more obstacles when he hooked up with Kim Kardashian (above posing alongside VOGUE editor-in-chief Anna Wintour at Yeezy’s sneaker unveiling last week), who eventually became his wife.
Apparently, the fashion world frowns upon reality stars. So Kanye believes the fact he was dating one made certain designers and industry folks NOT want to be bothered with him any longer. In an interview with InStyle, in between hitting up shows at NY Fashion Week, he revealed,
“As soon as we started dating, fashion people were really opposed to the idea of reality stars. And all the relationships the somewhat friends that I had somewhat built up, completely turned their backs on her and me,” he explained. “They already had their back to her, and now they’ve turned it to me.”
Then, the interview took an interesting turn when he started talking about his mother-in-law Kris Jenner and his brother-in-law Rob Kardashian. He continued,
“The so-called traction that I was getting in the high-fashion world was completely thrown out the window [after they began dating] and I was finally allowed to go to school, where every day I was in my mom’s house, in my little brother’s old room, Rob’s old room, re-tailoring a Céline skirt, re-tailoring a Saint Laurent jacket, re-tailoring a Zara top, re-tailoring Wolford,” he continued. “And day by day by day, [Kim and I] learned, we got better. We looked at the photographs together and she improved my style, we improved each other.”
Well alright. Yeezy was then asked about his creative influences when he veered off into a mini rant:
You guys know my f*cking influences. I’ve got four influences and it’s written all over the face, you know the combination. Just as much as Drake is influenced by Kanye West, you know my fucking influences. You see Raf Simons right there, you see Helmut, you see Margiela, you see Vanessa [Beecroft], you see Katharine Hamnett. It’s blatantly right there. I’m not going to try and act like I was influenced by a f*cking dog walking down the street that broke its ankle that I had a heartfelt discussion with. I had a heartfelt discussion with all of these f*cking Helmut Lang images that I stared at for so many years. I had a heartfelt discussion with my Tumblr.
But the doting dad cooled off when he talked about his baby girl North West and how his style has become more “dad-friendly.” He said,
“The idea of being a dad, no time to look in the mirror because I’m looking at my daughter, I’m looking at my wife. And I’ve got to take her to dance class.”

After announcing he would be hitting the studio with Taylor Swift soon, Kanye West and the “Shake It Off” singer were spotted dining together in NYC this week:
Following their reconciliation a few weeks ago at the GRAMMY Awards, it appears Yeezy and Taylor are gearing up to get in the studio. The two dined at the Spotted Pig restaurant downtown, likely to hash out any details before they hit the studio.
Anyone looking forward to their new collaboration?
