With the 4th of July right around the corner, Jason Pierre-Paul is drawing on his personal experience to help raise fireworks safety awareness. Meanwhile, Cam Newton is getting his feet wet in the film industry. Deets inside…

We’re a week away before the firework celebrations kick off to celebrate Independence Day on the 4th of July. But one NFLer knows all to well how handling fireworks can quickly get dangerous.

Last summer, New York Giants baller Jason Pierre-Paul tried to light some fireworks when it exploded in his hands. It resulted in the defensive end losing his right index finger and severely damaging the rest of his hand. Thankfully, he has recovered and he’s still active in the NFL.

In a new PSA in partnership with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, JPP helps spread fireworks safety awareness to help others avoid the same mistake. The Giants baller reflects on his thoughts after the fireworks blew up in his hands and advised everyone to leave it to the professionals. He also shows off his mutilated hand to show what can happen when accidents happen. Yikes.

Peep the PSA below:

Glad he has made a full recovery and hopefully someone takes this as a lesson learned.

In other sports news…

Carolina Panthers baller Cam Newton is ready to make some moves OFF the football field.

The NFL MVP has teamed up with Magical Elves to launch a new production company he’s calling Iconic Saga Productions. Cam and Magical Elves currently work on his new Nickelodeon show “All In with Cam Newton,” that premiered June 3rd.

“As soon as we started working on ‘All In,’ I knew that Dan and Jane would be the perfect partners, Cam told Variety. I’m excited to continue building on what we’ve already started, creating new, fun, authentic content for the world to see.”
