If the NFL is a quarterback driven league, then finding guys to get after the quarterback should be almost equally as important as finding the franchise QB. The Chicago Bears seem to believe they found their guy at quarterback, but now they need to add some talented pass rushers.

Leonard Floyd off the edge (when he’s healthy) and Akiem Hicks pressuring up the middle isn’t going to cut it.

With the recent releases of Pernell McPhee and Willie Young, their outside linebacker position is suddenly very thin. Seeing as how those two were on inured reserve a lot, one could argue it’s always been very thin, but that’s another topic. Hicks could use a running mate at defensive end too, so in my latest T Formation Conversation podcast (Subscribe now on iTunes for free!), I was joined by EJ Snyder and we talked possible outside linebackers and five-technique defensive ends that the Bears could have their eye on at the NFL Combine.

Here’s a list of most of the prospects we discussed.

  • OLB – Marcus Davenport (6’6”, 264), Texas-San Antonio
  • LB – Tremaine Edmunds (6’4”, 253), Virginia Tech
  • OLB – Arden Key (6’5”, 238), LSU
  • OLB – Uchenna Nwosu (6’2”, 251), USC
  • OLB – Marquis Haynes (6’2”, 235), Mississippi
  • LB – Jerome Baker (6’1”, 229), Ohio State
  • DE – Chad Thomas (6’5”, 281), Miami
  • DE – Duke Ejiofor (6’4”, 270), Wake Forest
  • DE – Andrew Brown (6’3”, 296), Virginia
