Azealia Banks is ready to make her mark in Hollywood. The outspoken raptress has landed her debut role in an upcoming Lionsgate film titled Coco, directed by RZA. Get the deets inside…
Our fave outspoken raptress Azealia Banks is ready to take on Hollywood. Nope, not with more Twitter feuds. The Harlem rap star has landed a starring role in a new film directed by Wu Tang Clan’s RZA (who has made a name for himself in the film industry). Azealia will play the title character in Coco, and it’s being produced by Paul Hall (Higher Learning, For Colored Girls, Addicted) and the script written by Nicole Jefferson-Asher.
According to Deadline, the drama is set in Brooklyn where Azealia will play a twenty-something rapper who wants a career in Hip Hop. While she dreams of making it big in the entertainment industry, her parents want her to finish college.
Instead of following her dream, she decides to go to college and discovers the power of spoke word, which in turn, helps her goal as a Hip Hop artist. It’s supposed to have an 8Mile feel to it. Hmm….sounds interesting. We’re sure Azealia will be able to relate to her character….
No word on when the film will be released, but we’ll definitely keep you posted.
