Gabby Union and Mariah Carey are both making moved in the Holiday movie world. Find out what on deck for them, plus Tyler Perry’s major purchase that’s about to open up a whole new world for Tyler Perry Studios…
In case you haven’t yet heard, Gabrielle Union is about to put on her Executive Producer hat again (after doing so for the Lifetime movie With This Ring) for a brand new film she’s set to star in while spreading Holiday cheer.
The Hollywood Reporter says:
Union will star in Universal’s A Meyers Christmas — originally titled A Meyers Thanksgiving — which centers on an estranged family who is brought together over Christmas for the first time since their mother’s passing. The film is slated to hit theaters on Nov. 11, 2016.
The “Being Mary Jane” and Take Five star is teaming up with her Think Like A Man franchise producer Will Packer to get this project going. David E. Talbert, who wrote and directed Baggage Claim, will be penning the script and directing the film as well.
Gabby took to social media yesterday to gush about the new project saying:
When you are about to make movie magic again with super producer and fam @willpowerpacker but you are committed to serving face… Cant Wait! (In my Bart Scott voice) Christmas will never be the same.
We love a good Holiday movie, especially when it stars our faves.
Speaking of Holiday movies, Mariah Carey is in the midst of shooting a new project. She’s directing am upcoming TV Movie called A Christmas Melody. It airs on a not-yet-announced network December 18th. Here’s the synopsis:
A gift of music transports people back to another time and place where they find their truest feelings.
The best part about the movie? Mariah brought in a star of one of her fave movies (and ours) to play the lead role — Lacey Chabert (“Gretchen”) from Mean Girls!
Mariah will also star in the movie in some capacity. We hear it’s likely going to air on Hallmark, so get ready The Queen of Christmas is spreading her Christmas glitter on TV!
In other movie news, Tyler Perry just made a MAJOR show-business move. He purchased a new home for Tyler Perry Studios….and it’s a now defunct army base in Atlanta!
He posted the above picture to his Facebook page last night saying:
4 months ago I bought Fort McPherson Army Base. It’s the future home of the new Tyler Perry Studios. I’ll keep you posted on the progress, but just know that I’d like to thank all of you. From the 30 people who showed up for my first play 20 years ago, to the millions who stand with me faithfully today, “Thank you.” This dream belongs to all of us. My prayer for you is that everything that you have sewn into my life will come back to you 100 fold. Here we grow again!!!
That’s big. Now his movies and tv shows will be shot on an nontraditional, yet perfect sized lot. Good luck on the move Tyler!
