The Yankees announced Wednesday they have traded infielder Ronald Torreyes to the Cubs for a player to be named later or cash considerations.

This comes two days after New York announced it had designated Torreyes for assignment, which freed up a 40-man roster spot.

Teams have 10 days after DFA’ing a player to trade him. They can place him on waivers within seven days as well.

New York claimed pitcher Parker Bridwell off waivers from the Angels, which filled Torreyes’ roster spot.

Torreyes batted .280 with seven RBIs in 41 games for New York this season.
