Last year BET announced their upcoming two-part miniseries “The Bobby Brown Story,” following the success of the “The New Edition Story.”
It was announced that Woody McClain would reprise his role as Bobby Brown. Now the network has announced additional cast members.
According to Deadline, Mekhi Phifer, Laz Alonso, Lance Gross And Lil Rel Howery have all landed roles in the upcoming mini-series.
Phifer will play the role of Bobby Brown’s brother Tommy Brown, while Gross will play Bobby’s childhood friend, Steven Sealy, who was killed in a gunfight after hanging with him at their hometown bar.
Howery will take on the role of Brian Irvine, Bobby’s business manager and Alonso will play Louil Silas Jr, an MCA producer/executive that helps launch Bobby’s solo career.
BET is planning a two-night premiere for the mini-series in September.
