I don’t know how OR why Robin Thicke and Pharrell Williams didn’t THINK that their song was a blatant resemblance of Marvin Gaye‘s one time hit. The two have lost their fight against the Gaye family, after a California judge ruled that they made a sufficient showing that elements of ‘Blurred Lines’ may be substantially similar to ‘Got To Give It Up.’ The judge found substantial similarity of signature phrases, hooks and bass lines.

Similarities in keyboard chords, harmonic structures and vocal melodies of the two songs were also found. A trial is currently scheduled for February 10th, 2015. I wonder how much the damages will be…

  1. I totally disagree with this ruling…..many…many many beats get jacked from previous songs with different melodies and it’s considered to be genius….this is going to change the industry big time…
