Five people were wounded in city shootings since Sunday afternoon, including a man who was shot during a robbery in the Little Village neighborhood on the West Side, Chicago police said.
The 27-year-old man was in the 2200 block of South Trumbull Avenue about 3:30 p.m. when he was shot in the left thigh, police said in a media notification. The man was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital, where his condition was stabilized, police said.
Most recently, a 21-year-old man was shot in the right leg in the East Chatham neighborhood on South Side about 4:45 a.m. Monday, police said. The man was walking in the 8200 block of South Ingleside Avenue when someone in a silver sedan fired shots, police said. The man was taken to Stroger Hospital, where his condition was stabilized.
Two men or boys went up to the man, and one of them shot him and demanded the man’s belongings, police said. When the man fell down after being shot, the two attackers took his belongings from him.
Two men were shot within an hour on the Far South Side late Sunday, police said. Just after 11:50 p.m., a 20-year-old man was shot in the left shoulder in the Altgeld Gardens neighborhood, police said. He was riding in a car in the 800 block of East 130th Street when he heard gunfire and realized he was hit, police said. He went in a private vehicle to Little Company of Mary Hospital, where his condition was stabilized.
About 11:25 p.m., a 27-year-old man was shot in the right leg in the Fernwood neighborhood on the Far South Side, police said. Officers responded to the 10000 block of South Emerald Avenue and found the man shot on the sidewalk, police said. He was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn, where his condition was stabilized. He would not provide further information about the shooting, police said.
Earlier, a man was wounded in a shooting on the Edens Expressway near the Wilson Avenue exit on the North Side about 7:40 p.m., according to state troopers. The man was in a car traveling south on Interstate 94 when someone in another car started shooting at him, troopers said. Both cars exited the expressway and the man was taken to Northwestern Memorial Hospital.
No one was in custody in any of the attacks.
