Yesterday, the 8th Annual Essence Black Women In Hollywood Luncheon, presented by Lincoln Motor Company, was held at the Beverly Wilshire Four Seasons Hotel. It brought out many of our fave YBF celebs.
The 2015 ESSENCE Black Women in Hollywood Luncheon honored outstanding women in the television and film industry including, “Beyond The Lights” actress Gugu Mbatha-Raw, actress, Regina King, costume designer Ruth Carter, and the cast of the Netflix Original Series, “Orange is the New Black.”
For her very first red carpet event since giving birth to her son Titan, Kelly Rowland wows on the carpet, showing off her post-baby bod. Earlier, she joined her friend/celebrity fitness trainer Jeanette Jenkins and a few celeb friends for a “Black Women In Hollywood” workout session.
The fit-and-fab new mom called upon Lance Gross’ fiancée Rebecca Jefferson to style her in this beautiful lace romper. And we’re loving it! Kelly looks amazing.
“blackish” actress and red carpet slayer Tracee Ellis Ross (who never disappoints) shut the carpet down in an elegant white Reed Krakoff frock, which she styled with a Rebecca Minkoff clutch, H.Stern jewelry and white Christian Louboutin pumps. Hot!
SELMA directress Ava DuVernay, who’s currently working on a new project with Oprah, kept it classy and beautiful in a printed dress.
#TGIT mastermind Shonda Rhimes took a moment from creating her next plot twist to attend the event honoring black women in Hollywood. She looks lovely.
Beyond the Lights starlet GuGu Mbatha-Raw hit the carpet in a Carolina Herrera floral print frock to accept the 2015 Black Women in Hollywood Best Breakthrough of the Year Award.
Actress Jurnee Smollet Bell (who also attended the Black Women In Hollywood Workout) was simply stunning in a white PHILIPP PLEIN International flared dress and printed Christian Louboutin pumps. She will be starring in Hello Beautiful’s upcoming documentary “Women On Top,” which is the first project from the newly launched HB Studios. It’s slated to premiere March 1st, kicking off Women’s History Month.
“Instant Mom” actress Tia Mowry Hardrict and her husband/American Sniper star Cory Hardrict were all smiles during the event. Cory recently revealed how he and his wife met at a bus stop and kicked it off. It’s rather interesting. Find out what he said here.
“Survivor’s Remorse” star Teyonah Parrish gave us life in an emerald green Kimberly Goldson ensemble. Stunner!
“Orange is the New Black” superstars Uzo Aduba and Laverne Cox attended the event to accept an award for their work on the hit Netflix series.
Also being honored, Regina King strutted her stuff before being praised for all of her work in Hollywood.
Sports Illustrated swimsuit model Chanel Iman posed it up on the carpet.
Actress Niecy Nash, who stars in television series “Getting On” & “The Mindy Project,” looked pretty on the carpet.
“Mike & Molly” actress Holly Robinson Peete posed alongside her mother Dolores Robinson.
“The Haves And The Have Nots” starlet Tike Sumpter was all smiles snapping it up with actress Garcelle Beauvais. Tika is gearing up for her role as Lucille in the upcoming biopic about legendary blues performer Bessie Smith titled, Bessie. The telefilm is expected to premiere on HBO this spring.
“State of Affairs” actress Alfre Woodard hit the red carpet before attending the luncheon.
SELMA star David Oyelowo and his wife Jessica Oyelowo hit the carpet before he presented Gugu Mbatha-Raw with the 2015 Black Women in Hollywood Best Breakthrough of the Year Award.
“Glory” rapper Common and singer John Legend came out to hit the stage with a performance of their soulful track.
WNBA superstar Skylar Diggins looked nice in a blue pleated dress. She was also in attendance for the Black Women in Hollywood workout session with Kelly Rowland, Jurnee Smollet Bell and a host of others.
“Being Mary Jane,” “Girlfriends” and “The Game” creator Mara Brock Akil was smoking hot in her black lace romper.
Oscar winner Lupita Nygong’o was all smiles posing it up alongside media mogul Oprah and SELMA actress Carmen Ejogo. Nice shot!
The fashionista, styling in her colorful dress, hit the carpet with the cast of “OITNB” for a pic. The Kenyan beauty was on hand to present the Vanguard Award to the “OITNB” cast.
Wedding Ringer, No Good Deed and Ride Along producer Will Packer came out to support.
Beyond the Lights director Gina Prince-Bythewood and Mara Brock Akil snapped a flick with Essence Discovery winner Iman Milner. Gina captioned, “Essence Black Women in Hollywood luncheon! @maraakil and I with Essence Discovery winner @ImanMilner. Was on the voting committee. Really dug her film. Honored to present her with her award. Looking for big things from her in the future.”
Common and John Legend hit the stage to perform thier Grammy-nominated track “Glory.”
During the luncheon, David brought his young daughter on stage to thank Gugu for the images she brings to the screen as he presented her with the Best Breakthrough of the Year Award.
And the “OITNB” cast took the stage to thank everyone as they accepted the Vanguard Award.
