Jimmy Fallon wasted no time in taking a jab at Donald Trump in his Golden Globes monologue that began with a teleprompter malfunction.

The Tonight Show host jumped right in with his first joke about the president-elect by saying this is a place where they still ‘honor the popular vote’.

He then slammed Trump when he compared him to King Joffrey of Game of Thrones.

‘Many people wondering what it would be like if King Joffrey had lived. Well, in 12 days we’re gonna find out,’ he said as the audience erupted with laughter.

At the start of the 74th Annual Golden Globes Awards, Fallon borrowed the traffic jam song-and-dance routine from ‘La La Land’ to kick off the Golden Globe Awards, with a song-and-dance intro featuring cameos from Globes nominees Raimi Malek and John Travolta.

The pre-recorded intro then morphed into footage of Fallon sitting at a piano serenading stars in the Beverly Hilton Hotel ballroom, including Ryan Reynolds and Justin Timberlake.

Fallon started by singing on the red carpet in a limousine that was stuck in a traffic jam.

He then got out of the car and was joined by other stars in his song.

The cast of Stranger Things, actress Nicole Kidman and Westworld’s Evan Rachel Wood, were among the many stars in the routine.

After his performance, Fallon at first stumbled a bit with a live TV moment and then ad-libbed his entire monologue after his teleprompter malfunctioned.

Sunday night’s Golden Globes marked the first time Fallon hosted the awards.

But his teleprompter failed at the start of the live telecast from the Beverly Hilton in Beverly Hills.

‘Already the teleprompter’s down so this is a great way to start the show,’ a visibly flustered Fallon said.

‘I could do impressions,’ he suggested as he stood on stage without his rehearsed lines. ‘What do we do here?’ he asked.

He then acknowledged that inadvertently he’d already given social media it’s ‘Golden Globes moment.” ‘It’s already a GIF,’ he joked.

Globes representatives say the glitch was real, not a setup for a joke.

The 42-year-old host also took a moment to throw shade at Mariah Carey (right) when his teleprompter stalled. ‘I just talked to Mariah Carey, and she thinks Dick Clark Productions sabotaged my monologue’

‘I just talked to Mariah Carey, and she thinks Dick Clark Productions sabotaged my monologue.’

The joke was an apparent jab at Carey’s New Year’s Eve performance that went terribly wrong after her ear monitors stopped working.

Carey stopped singing during her live set as pre-recorded vocals continued to play behind her.

Later, the songstress took to social media claiming the production team sabotaged her performance.

In September, Fallon had a quite memorable run-in with Trump, who appeared on the Tonight Show, where his famous hair was wildly mussed up by the host.

The talk-show host closed his segment with Trump by asking if he could do one silly thing with him since he could be president the next time he appears on the show.

‘I’m not liking the sound of this,’ Trump said before Fallon asked if he could mess his hair up.

The audience roared as the Republican nominee pondered the bizarre request but he ultimately agreed.

‘The answer is yes, but… I hope the people of New Hampshire… will understand,’ Trump said, noting he would be there later tonight and did not want his coiffure out of place.

But Fallon certainly sent Trump’s locks flying out of control in every direction.
