Jennifer Hudson has already had a run-in with overzealous fans during a preview run of the Broadway musical The Color Purple. Come inside to hear how one fan crashed the stage and Erykah Badu’s chat with “The Breakfast Club” inside…
Grammy Award winning singer Jennifer Hudson is heavy on the promo circuit to promote her Broadway debut as Shug Avery in The Color Purple. The R&B diva was spotted making her rounds in NYC today, leaving the “Good Morning America” studios looking pretty in all pink.
The Oscar winner appeared on “Live with Kelly & Michael” this morning where she dished on what it has been like working on the Broadway play. The show is currently running preview shows right now and the official premiere will kick-off December 10th.
During a recent show, she revealed every night is different because every audience gives off a different type of energy. “With live shows you just never know what’s going to happen,” said JHud.
She continued, “The other night, we were in a show and an audience member decided to move a prop because it was in his way. He was 20 minutes late. He gets up and moves the basket. One of the actors moved back and he got up and moved it again!”
Ha! The nerve.
JHud also talked about performing for the Pope where she said, “I just tried not to get too emotional.” The R&B songstress said that was one moment she wished her mother and grandmother was there to share with her. She said she tried her hardest not to think about them because it’s hard to cry and sing at the same time.

In another interview…
During her chat with the radio hosts she addressed her Twitter beef with female rapper Azealia Banks. She said she didn’t think Azealia would have even read her tweet and that sometimes social media can hype things up.
“I think if we’re not careful we let people instigate us into kid of weird situations. I was just saying sh*t really. I didn’t know she was going to read it,” Ms. Badu said.
The Grammy Award winner talked about her relationship with Young Money rapper Drake. She revealed she called up Drizzy once (at a time when she didn’t know him) and asked him if he would visit her son Seven’s (whom she shares with Andre 3000) sixth grade class. She said, “He came to the school and spoke to the kids. It was really awesome. It just lit up Seven’s world.”
Since then Drake and Seven formed a relationship which she said, “I really respect Drake for keeping that relationship with Seven open, keeping his line open, being so kind to him.”
Also during the sitdown, her baby’s daddy Jay Electronica made a special drop in to make sure Charlagmagne didn’t disrespect the mother of his daughter Mars. Check it above.
Be sure to check out Erykah on her hosting duties for the Soul Train Awards premiering on Sunday, November 29 at 8/7c on Centric and BET.
Patti LaBelle revealed during a recent interview with “The Breakfast Club” that she will be inviting YouTube sensation James Wright Chanel to her home in Philly to spend this Thanksgiving together.
Well, that’s one way to thank him for his services…espcially after taking all the credit when asked about the spike in her pie sales recently.
