The 23rd Annual Trumpet Awards went down last night in Atlanta at the Cobb Energy Performing Arts Centre. And we’ve got pics of the fab folks who hit the red carpet and received honors inside…
The gorgeousness that is Janelle Monae showed up in a serious Balmain cape to accept her award for her accomplishments in entertainment.
She posted her own cute pic with her award and gave this uplifting message:
“It’s not that I don’t experience fear but I understand fearlessness is more important. It’s not that I don’t get tired but I realize standing up for those whose voices are often ignored has to come first. It’s not that I don’t get discouraged but I understand that working hard, being a champion for minorities & those marginalized across the world as well as Opening up more doors for girls has to come first.”
The Cover Girl spokesmodel and singer definitely encompasses what the awards are about: To celebrate and honor African American achievers and those who support the African American experience.
The annual event salutes accomplishments in law, medicine, business, politics, the arts, civil rights, sports, entrepreneurship, entertainment and other careers. So it’s only right Jamie Foxx was another nominee:
The actor, singer and comedian had his two favorite girls as his dates.
His mom Louise Annette Talley Dixon and his youngest daughter Annalise. He also posed it up with “Power” star Naturi Naughton inside.
And Ms. Naturi looked snatched and amazing in her golden gown.
Omari Hardwick’s on-screen wife posed it up with Rocsi Diaz, who just joined the crew over at HLN as a correspondent.
Rocsi looked red hot in her Cabernet colored lace detailed dress. And she posed it up with her fellow New Orleans native Mystikal. The man right chea!
Speaking of red hot, “Atlanta Exes” star Monyetta Shaw also rocked the bold color in a sexy Nicole Bakti curve hugging dress and Sergio Rossi shoes. She blended in with the carpet, but the look totally worked for her.
And it appears red was the color of the night:
Well look at Shay “Buckeey” Johnson. She’s been hitting the gym and dieting like crazy, according to her Instagram posts, and it shows. Scrappy’s sometimes girlfriend on “LAHH ATL” (and reality star in her own right) hit the carpet in a chic lace embellished pantsuit by R Mills. And we’re not sure what’s going on with her and Mystikal, but they definitely hit the carpet together….
“RHOA” star Cynthia Bailey looked gorgeous in a blue S Boutique New York dress as she walked up to the carpet. She revealed she did her own hair and makeup for the night. Those model skills still come in handy.
“R&B Divas LA” star Chanté Moore lit up the carpet in gold.
And singer Deborah Cox, the woman behind that powerful voice in the Whitney biopic, also hit the carpet.
The awards ceremony will be televised on Feb. 21 on TV One
