Jamie Foxx and Wanda Sykes are set to pay tribute to the classic television sitcom “The Jeffersons” in a new live special coming to ABC next month. The one-night-only television special will also pay tribute to the classic show “All In The Family.”
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Jimmy Kimmel and producer Norman Lear teamed up to produce the 90 minute special, which will pay tribute to these two classic sitcoms. The special has been titled, “Live in Front of a Studio Audience: Norman Lear’s All in the Family and The Jeffersons.” The live event will recreate an original episode from both shows.
The special will air on May 22nd, and Jamie Foxx is set to play George Jefferson from “The Jeffersons,” originally played by Sherman Hemsley. Wanda Sykes will play the role of George’s wife, Louise Jefferson, who was originally played by Isabel Sanford.
When it comes to “All In The Family,” Woody Harrelson will be taking on the role of Archie
Bunker, originally played by Carroll O’Connor, and Marisa Tomei will play
Archie’s wife, Edith Bunker, originally played by Jean Stapleton.
“All In The Family” aired from 1971 to 1979, and “The Jeffersons,” which is the show’s spinoff aired from 1975 to 1985.
