QT Jazz

This week we are featuring the multitalented and immensely gifted Pop Princess that many well respected professionals and artists in the music and entertainment industries (such as Kandi Burruss, Tamar Braxton and Tameka “Tiny” Cottle) have predicted her to be THE NEXT BIGGEST THING to come out of Atlanta, Georgia. At age 15, Jasmine “QT Jazz” Robinson, has been in both industries and honing her skills for 12 years.

She is no stranger to the business and though she has accomplished by age 15 more than many have in a lifetime, she is JUST GETTING STARTED.

You haven’t seen anything yet. Many liken her to a combination of
Janet Jackson, Ciara and Beyonce, and I am about to show you why…

At what age did you know you wanted to be a star?

I started when I was like 3 years old. I always was surrounded by music. Being around groups like Xscape, The Tams, and The Braxtons truly influenced me and my life. I had my 1st audition and got the part for a Volvo infomercial. From then on, I started doing multiple things like Toys R Us commercials, The Fun Farm Show on BFC, Kid Nation and much more!

You are a singer, dancer, actress, DJ, radio personality and talk show host, basically a quintuple threat. Which is your first love? If you were only granted the ability to do one of them, which talent could you not live without?

I don’t technically have a 1st love in this business. I love it all. I can’t pick one favorite. If anything, the combination of singing and dancing, performing in general, is what I absolutely love to do.

See why people are raving about QT Jazz!!

What is your favorite memory of being on stage?

Performing with my brother, “Gphonix” is my favorite memory. I had to open for Monica at Ft Valley St College. They wanted me to perform “Shawty Go Ham” and the rapper on the song could not make it, so my brother re-recorded the rap and performed with me.

Describe your style in ONE word.

What is your favorite color, food, movie, song?

Color – Blue
Food – Sushi
Movie – Good Burger

What was it like hanging out with Jawan Harris and his ex-manager, Toyiah Marquis, back in 2005 before he was a star?

When we met years ago on the Maury Show, we all became instant friends/family. Any time they were in Atlanta, GA, they would call, and we would try to meet up. Once, I even rehearsed for a showcase with Jawan. It was his showcase for Usher. I had to leave before the showcase to film a CBS show called “Kid Nation.” I knew he was going to do great because he has a great voice and an enormous amount of talent.

You’re very family oriented. How do you juggle school, gymnastics classes, dance classes, piano and singing training with your performances and family quality time?

Yes, I am the youngest of 4. I have a set schedule each week that keeps me busy and focused, and I have a wonderful family that keeps me humble. The people around me tell me the truth…lol
Sunday’s and Monday’s are usually my easy-going days. The busier I am, the better my grades are. I am an A honor student. I feel like I have to get my homework done, so I can be fully focused on whatever else it is I’m doing for that day. My mother has been management in this business for 15yrs. Her experience and organizational skills keep me balanced. I get to hang out as Jasmine and enjoy the business as QT Jazz. My mother also styles and designs my performance wardrobe. My dad is so supportive. He is the person that brings it all together making sure that we all go to church, eat together, pray together, stay on top of school and so much more.

Your older siblings are doing great things as well.
Tell us about them, what they are up to and how they’ve influenced your work ethic.

My oldest brother is a radio personality, “DJ Dirty,” of 97.9 WIBB Clear Channel Macon, GA; I often co-host with him. My brother, “Gphonix,” is my producer/writer. He is the best at creating songs mature for adults to enjoy and staying age appropriate, which is very important for young females in this business. My sister, TaNisha, is a hairstylist. She has a hair salon in Macon, GA called “Assorted Divas.” She and my mother keep my hair and grades on point.

How does it feel to be around people like Kandi, Tiny, Toni Braxton, Tamar, TI, OMG Girlz, Toya and Reginae all the time?

I grew up around them, so it’s regular to me. I love them all very much, and they are a major influence on me when I am acting. When I play a role, most of the time I just pick one of them to become and it works out great. They also give me a lot of advice.

How long have you and Tiny’s daughter, Zonnique, been best friends?

We were born friends. For years, we lived across the street from each other. So for many years, people thought we were twins.…lol

Do people treat you differently since they’ve seen you on tons of movies and TV shows such as The Real Housewives of Atlanta and The Gospel?

If they meet me and don’t know me some people treat me different after they find out what I have done and who I know, but it is ok with me. I don’t mind. Love is love no matter when it comes….lol

You were in the video, “Like ‘Em All,” by Jacob Latimore featuring Diggy Simmons.
What was that experience like and what was it like working with Jacob and Diggy on set?

It was great! We rehearsed several days before the video shoot. Jacob and I have known each other for years. We always have fun when we hang out.

You may or may not know that there are rumors circulating that you and Jacob Latimore are dating. Are you? If so, how long have you been dating? If not, are you dating anyone?

I did not know about the rumors….lol. They are only rumors. I am supposed to wait until I am 16 before I can start dating. I am 15. We are trying to help my dad prepare for it, and he’s not feeling well. Each time the subject is brought up he complains about his heart.

Sources tell me that you are going to be a part of the upcoming Scream Tour. Is this true? Tell me more about it.

It is being talked about but the details have not been finalized.

You recently tweeted about the child author of the new book “Not Fat Because I Wanna Be,” LaNiyah Bailey , can you tell us why you support her and her message?

She is such an inspiration. To see a young author with such an important message is amazing to me. I learned from her that her size is due to a medical condition and not because of what or how much she eats. This is something people need to know. She is fortunate to have a great mother that paid enough attention to have her checked out by a doctor. It is so important for parents to listen. Then she went even further to share her story with the world while campaigning against bullying.

As you know, one of my passions is Community Service which is one of the reasons that I love you so much. You and your mother are such Sweeties with huge hearts. Tell our readers about the fundraisers you’ve coordinated for your school and the many ways that you give back not only to your community but overall.

I coordinated several school dances to raise money for the different school clubs. I also went to different local businesses to get them to donate gifts, movie passes and so on.

Who inspires you?

God, my family and friends. I am blessed to have so many great people in my life.

How would you describe the relationship between you and your fans? How do you feel when they write you on social media or ask for autographs and pictures in public?

I love them so much! I don’t feel comfortable calling them fans. Each time I read a comment I get so happy. I feel honored that they would take the time to write. They are my QT Possie.

Who are YOU a fan of?

I am a fan of great entertainment. So many talented people I would not know where to begin.

If you had the opportunity to perform with 3 recording artists, who would it be and why?

Chris Brown, Beyonce and Ne-Yo because they are all wonderful artists with extreme amount of talent. I would be so honored to be on stage with them.

You have some GREAT singles out now, “Hey DJ” and “I’m Ready” that are currently gracing the radio airwaves. Tell me about the creative process involved; you typically write your own songs, right? Did you pen these songs? Who produced them? Tell me about the vibe of the songs and where can people hear/download/purchase the songs?

They are being mixed and mastered for radio now. My brother, “Gphonix,” and I get together to come up with a topic that would catch attention and be age appropriate.  I co-write with him.  “Hey DJ” has a down south vibe that has been called swaggout.  lol  “I’m Ready” is a girl power song telling girls not to be pressured into relationships until they are ready and to make sure they get the RESPECT they deserve.

Before we wrap it up!! Here’s one more video to check out QT Jazz in “Star Kidz Musical”

You’re already doing such AMAZING things for a 15 year-old; however, you also have aspirations of being the CEO of your own record label, TV and radio show as well as start a school of performing arts. If anyone can do it, you can. Are you currently pursuing those goals? Where does the inspiration for such high standards and ambitious goals come from?

Yes, I am pursuing those goals.  I am inspired by my family and friends.  Being in the business all my life, I have studied how successful people set high goals and reach them.  I am also having a lot of fun doing this…
