It’s probably safe to say we’re more than ready to do away with chunky sweaters, heavy coats, hats and mittens. Spring fashion inspiration — and lighter layers — is just a hop, skip and a jump away.
Fashion Week MN’s spring installment (#FWMN) runs Thursday through next Sunday (April 19-29). More than a dozen events are planned throughout the Twin Cities, with a calendar full of fashion shows, pop-up shops, studio workshops and mix-and-mingle events.
Expect to see returning favorites as well as several new events and venues, said Jahna Peloquin, Fashion Week MN co-founder and co-director.
Peloquin said inclusivity and diversity continues to be an important aspect, and events with Afrocentric, GLBT and plus-size themes reflect that. “We really want to be a snapshot of what is local fashion in Minnesota and tapping into that.”

April 19: Fashion Week MN kicks off with its signature mix-and-mingle event. Five up-and-coming designers show looks with models on rotating platforms. Then there’s the chance to take your own photos with a photo wall offering a backdrop to Tweet and Instagram your #MINNSTAFASHION. WORKERBY PRESENTS ‘GRAY MATTER SERIES: SENSE OF PLACE’
April 23: This ongoing set of collaborations led by artist and milliner Anna Lee is ready for another round. A pop-up gallery and shopping event will feature the spring/summer collection of hats and digitally printed scarves from the paintings of Ruby3 by Anna Lee and custom lipsticks Ruby + Rosa by Elixery. April 23: A new clothing line will launch during Fashion Week MN. FOX DEN SALON PRESENTS ‘FLAGRANT: FASHION ON THE FRINGE’
April 24: Clothing and accessory designers from the fringes of the queer community collaborate with hair and makeup artists of Fox Den Salon for this runway show. April 26: A chance to see sustainable fashion in the works. Six local designers of everything from clothes to hats, bags to jewelry host mini workshops that let you check out the raw materials and view the process. Karen Morris Millinery will feature a live demonstration of the art of hat making and introduce her new collection. Strey Designs will work with a performance artist to illustrate her small-batch manufacturing process. ACG will transform fashion into sculpture. ILO Studio, Tessa Louise and Foat Design will feature demonstrations.
