A UK woman is reportedly divorcing her husband on grounds that the erotic, bestselling novel Fifty Shades of Grey failed to ignite his languishing libido.
The woman, a high-powered banker who earns more than $600,000 a year, said she tried to spice up her love life with the aid of E.L. James’ novel.
“She thought their sex life had hit a rut – he never remembered Valentine’s Day or complimented her on her appearance,” divorce lawyer Amanda McAlister said. The client and her soon-to-be former husband’s names were not released. McAlister said the wife bought sexy underwear to entice her husband into making love, but he never even complimented her on her appearance.“The woman had been reading the book and wanted to spice up her love life,” McAlister said. “She thought their sex life had hit a rut.”
When the wife pressed her husband to try out some of the action from the book, “he went ballistic” and blamed her for their marital meltdown, McAlister said.
“It’s all because you have been reading that bloody book,” the husband told his wife, according to McAlister.
