An ‘explosion’ has been reported in Greenwich Village apartment building.
Plumes of smoke billowed from 60 East 9th street after the blast at around 5.45pm on Wednesday.
The New York Fire Department received reports of a fire on the sixth floor of the luxury co-op building a 5.45pm.
Several fire trucks raced to the scene to battle the blaze. Witnesses described hearing a bang shortly before the smoke plumed.
An FDNY spokesman could not give further details on Wednesday evening.
‘It’s a developing situation, so far there are no injuries reported but it is developing,’ they told DailyMail.com.
