amfAR’s Inspiration Gala went down in NYC last night. And a few supermodels, including Tyson Beckford and Joan Smalls, were on the scene to support. Peep the red carpet pics inside….
amfAR held it’s sixth annual Inspiration Gala at Spring Studio in NYC yesterday to celebrate men’s fashion while raising funds for AIDS research. And supermodel Tyson Beckford brought his handsomeness to the carpet.
The Chocolate City star will be appearing in a new flick titled Supermodel, which premiered over the weekend at ABFF, about a young girl from Brooklyn trying to get her foot into the fashion industry.
During the premiere, Tyson shared his thoughts with TheYBF.com on the disappearance/non-existence of the black model. He revealed, “Oh…we’re already on our way. If you haven’t seen it…we’re already on the way out the door. There are less billboards. If you go outside right now, and count how many black images are on a billboard, you’ll see for yourself.”
The fashion flick was written and produced by Datari Turner (who also stars in the film) and directed by Shawn Baker. The remaining cast, include Sessilee Lopez, Tatyana Ali, Fat Joe, Angela Simmons, Toccara Jones, Nichole Galicia, Marc John Jefferies, Adam Senn, Melissa De Sousa, Cassandra Freeman, and Roger Guenveur Smith.
No debut date just yet, but we’ll keep you posted.
The world’s top model Joan Smalls popped up on the carpet showing off her long legs in a striped Givenchy dress.
“Orange Is The New Black” star Laverne Cox, who has been making her press rounds in NYC for season 3 of the Netflix show, kept it glam on the red carpet in a black high slit cutout gown. The TIME magazine cover girl debuted new bangs recently, but she went back to a side part for last night’s event.
Coming up for Laverne? She will be presenting at the 2015 BET Awards Sunday, June 28th and will be stopping by “Live with Kelly & Michael” tomorrow.
British model Alek Wek posed it up in a navy blue frock on the carpet.
Joan got kissy with French model Constance Jablonski as nightlife personality Ladyfag showed off her lady lumps and trendy new underarm hair. And no, we’re not here for it.
Tyson chopped it up with the man of the hour last night. “Watch What Happens Live” host Andy Cohen (along with Miley Cyrus) was honored for his contributions to the fight against AIDS.
And Laverne chatted with cosmetics brand President of Kiehl’s Chris Salgardo during the evening. Fab times.
