Deputies were responding to a correctional center due to an escaped inmate in La Porte County, Indiana, authorities confirmed Friday.

Orville Morris, 35, of Marengo, was at the prison during a morning count at the facility, the Northwest Indiana Times reports, but was unaccounted for by 3:15 p.m. Friday.

La Porte County Sheriff’s deputies were dispatched the area of the Westville Correctional Center, the sheriff’s office announced in a news release. A sheriff’s patrol supervisor and other deputies were also responding to the facility, authorities said.

Morris was described as white, about 5 feet, 9 inches tall and 210 pounds. He had a projected release date of Jan. 30, 2019, and had been incarcerated since July 19, 2014. He is currently serving a three-year sentence for robbery and was to start serving an additional three-year sentence for felony burglary on Aug. 1, 2017, the Times reported.

He finished serving a 450-day sentence for felony theft/receiving stolen property out of Washington County Circuit Court on Feb. 28 2015, according to the newspaper.

“Out of an abundance of caution, we are posting this information so that citizens that live in the area can be aware,” a news release reads.

No other information was immediately available.
