Donald Trump Jr claimed that his father’s legal troubles were over on Thursday night, calling the FBI probe into the Trump administration’s connections with Russia ‘a ten-month witch hunt’.

Speaking on Sean Hannity’s FOX show on Thursday, Trump Jr said that the investigation was an attempt to ‘distract’ his father from getting things done in the White House.

‘This has been a ten-month witch hunt,’ Trump Jr said. ‘This is the only thing that they had on Trump. This is what they did to distract him from being able to get the stuff done that he was ultimately elected to do.

‘And I think now that this is all passed, he can go back to doing what he promised he was gonna do. There’s no clouds. Nothing getting in his way. There’s no obstructionist.’

Trump Jr added: ‘He can go back to what he said he was going to do for the American people – getting Americans back to work, putting America first, and getting us out of these stupid deals that America seems to pay for and everyone seems to benefit from but us.’

Trump Jr referenced comments Chris Matthews made earlier on MSNBC, in which he said theory that President Donald Trump’s staffers and close confidants were in collusion with Russia ‘came apart’ during Former FBI Director James Comey’s testimony in front of the Senate Intelligence Committee on Thursday morning.

‘Even the left, as you pointed out with Chris Matthews, saying ‘Hey guys, it’s over. Let’s move on.’ Let my father do his job,’ Trump Jr. said. ‘Let him do what the American people elected him to do.’

Hannity and Trump Jr later criticized the role of the media in Trump’s presidency and how it’s portrayed his time in office.

‘It’s not about reporting the truth anymore, Sean,’ Trump Jr said. ‘It’s not about journalism. Even when I was born it was “Hey, we report the news”.

‘Then it became journalism would put its spin on the news. Now it’s just “We’re just going to craft narratives and run with it”.

‘It’s pretty sad and it’s a shame because it would be a pretty important profession and it’s why he’s [Trump] is on Twitter all the time.’

The Hannity appearance wasn’t the first time Trump Jr spoke out for President Donald Trump on Thursday – during Comey’s testimony earlier in the day he unleashed a sudden tweet storm about an hour into the hearing.

He even retweeted an individual whose Twitter handle is ‘CNN is ISIS & Hitler’ at one point, posting over 50 times in less than two hours.

‘Flynn stuff is BS in context 2 guys talking about a guy they both know well. I hear ‘I hope nothing happens but you have to do your job,” wrote Trump Jr to start things off.

‘Very far from any kind of coercion or influence and certainly not obstruction!’

He added: ‘Knowing my father for 39 years when he ‘orders or tells’ you to do something there is no ambiguity, you will know exactly what he means.’

Then, just two minutes later, Trump Jr tweeted again, writing: ‘Hoping and telling are two very different things, you would think that a guy like Comey would know that. #givemeabreak’

He was back again after another two minute break to keep going after Comey and his statements.

And there’s more: ‘Hoping and telling are two very different things, you would think that a guy like Comey would know that. #givemeabreak,’ wrote Don Jr in another tweet

‘So if he was a ‘Stronger guy’ he might have actually followed procedure & the law? You were the director of the FBI, who are you kidding?’ he wrote at 11am, scoffing at Comey’s comments.

And when Senator Marco Rubio pointed out that the only thing which was never leaked was that President Donald Trump was not under investigation, Trump Jr tweeted: ‘Solid point and seems rather convenient for the partisan nonsense we have seen play out for months.’

That tweet even got a retweet from Trump Jr 30 minutes after he first posted it on his account.

Trump Jr later added: ‘We all know that there is no way anyone in the swamp would leak something favorable to @POTUS. Otherwise this whopper would be everywhere!’

Then, when Comey stated that he helped to get his memo leaked in hopes of getting a special counsel to investigate, Trump Jr tweeted: ‘Did I miss something or did Comey just say he asked a friend to leak information to the press? Is this a joke?’

He then wrote: ‘Washington DC at its finest. This is what America rallied against, but the DC elite don’t get it or know any other way.’

Through this all Trump Jr also retweeted a number of other individuals, including former Arkansas governor Mike Huckabee, Bill O’Reilly and the disgraced host’s former employer Fox News.

He also earned a number of retweets from the son of General Flynn, Michael Flynn Jr., who posted a number of Trump Jr’s comments to his own account.

Comey’s admission that he had leaked information seemed to be the most bothersome bit of information to Trump Jr who tweeted: ‘He was more than willing to leak something against @realdonaldtrump but not something that exonerates him? Classy guy.’

Trump Jr also made a point of posting the question asked by Senator Roy Blunt of Missouri, writing: ‘ If you told Sessions you didn’t want to be alone with Trump again, why did you continue to take his calls?’

Trump Jr’s final comment was a retweet of his father, who wrote back in April: ‘The real story turns out to be SURVEILLANCE and LEAKING! Find the leakers.’

Trump Jr added: ‘Once again he’s right way before anyone else sees it… and they found another leaker today.’
