Clippers owner Donald Sterling was absent from Sunday’s game after audio recordings were released of him making racist statements.
In calls to girlfriend Vanessa Stiviano, authenticated by her lawyer, Sterling tells her not to bring black people to Clippers games or post pictures of herself with black men on Instagram.
However, Sterling’s estranged wife Rochelle, who goes by Shelly, sat court side for the playoff game against Golden State and told TMZ she does not stand behind her husband’s comments.
‘Our family is devastated by the racist comments made by my estranged husband. My children and I do not share these despicable view or prejudices.
Shelly goes on … “We will not let one man’s small-mindedness poison the spirit of the fans and accomplishments of the team in the city we love.”
And Shelly says, “We are doing everything in our power to stand by and support our Clippers team.”
Shelly was at Sunday’s playoff game and is flying back with the team tonight. Donald, on the other hand, was persona non grata at the game.
