The brother of Grover Norquist promised on Tuesday that if the Senate confirms him to be the Pentagon comptroller, he will audit the department, according to a report in the Washington Examiner.

David Norquist promised to do this by putting pressure on employees and “calling out individuals who create weaknesses in financial spending,” according to the report.

Many defense officials have wanted to see the Pentagon audited for many years, but it has never come to fruition. Some officials believe if anyone can get it done, it would be David Norquist. His brother, Grover Norquist, became best known for convincing many Republicans to sign agreements pledging to not raise taxes once they were elected into public office, setting a good example for just how effective the pair can be when put to the task.

“Well, somebody inside the Pentagon can say, ‘I don’t contribute really,’ but that’s because it’s such a large thing,” David Norquist said, according to the Washington Examiner. “But if you see yourself called out, the answer is, well, can you fix the two problems within your control.”

President Donald Trump announced his plan to nominate the Kearney & Co. partner as Defense under secretary, or comptroller, earlier this year.
