Many people are devastated following the damage that Hurricane Maria has left behind on the island of Puerto Rico.
Like with the two previous hurricanes that have left many people misplaced, celebrities are stepping up to help with relief efforts.
Jennifer Lopez announced her $1 million donation to Puerto Rico earlier today, and now rapper Daddy Yankee is the latest celebrity to donate and raise awareness.
In an interview with CNN, Daddy Yankee revealed that he personally donated $1 million to Feed America and another $100,000 to the Red Cross.
He said, “A lot of people don’t know Puerto Ricans are American citizens … we need the federal money for the citizens and for the government to help the locals.”
He also said, “A lot of people don’t know I’m from Puerto Rico. I have my family there, I have my wife, my daughter, and I live there still … and we really need your help.”
He is encouraging his fans to donate items such as batteries, water, and insect repellent.
