Sunday night in Beverly Hills, the kings and queens of TV were crowned at the Critics’ Choice Awards. Find out how Taraji P. Henson made history inside…
Congrats are in order for Taraji “Cookie” Henson as she became the first black woman to receive the Critics’ Choice Best Actress In A Drama Series Award Sunday night!
At the Beverly Hilton hotel, the “Empire” star accepted the award with an emotional speech and the sass for which we love her:
Check out Taraji’s acceptance speech where she lets the world know what WE already knew: she is definitely not new to the game. It’s about time she’s being recognized for her talent.
The YBF star rocked a curve hugging silver studded-trim black maxi dress by Alexander Wang for her big night.
Queen Latifah offered up congratulatory hugs to her friend Taraji….and also won big last night herself.
After looking fab in blue while posing it up with Bessie co-star Khandi Alexander, the cast of Bessie took the stage to accept the award for Best Film made for TV. Nice!!
Tracee Ellis Ross kept it chic in all black as the “blackish” actress and Hollywood Reporter cover girl presented an award alongside “Big Bang Theory” star Johnny Galecki (who previously played ‘David’ on “Roseanne”!). She rocked an Adam Lippes tuxedo dress, a vintage Judith Leiber clutch and Louboutin pumps:
Spice Girl and “X-Factor” judge Mel B. posed it up in a sexy caped white tux-inspired look alongside her husband Stephen Belafonte.
Producer Damon D’Oliveira, writer/director Clement Virgo and the cast of “The Book of Negroes” (actor Lyriq Bent, actress Aunjanue Ellis, actor Louis Gossett Jr.) posed it up with Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of BET Networks Debra Lee and BET President of Programming Stephen Hill.
“Brooklyn Nine-Nine” star Terry Crews acted up on the carpet as usual. He’ll be stepping down in his post as host of “Millionaire” soon, but has tons of other projects on deck.
Cicely Tyson, who was up for BEST GUEST PERFORMER IN A DRAMA SERIES for her role on “How To Get Away With Murder” made an appearance and is still looking fab.
Major congrats are in order for Lorraine Touissant who won for BEST SUPPORTING ACTRESS IN A DRAMA SERIES for her role in “Orange Is The New Black”!
Talk show host Aisha Tyler (Yes, legs!) and tv host Rocsi Diz looked fabulous on the carpet.
And Taraji’s on-screen son Bryshere Gray came out for the big night.
Congrats to all the YBF winners, including David Oyelowo who won for BEST ACTOR IN A MOVIE OR LIMITED SERIES for his role in Nightingale!
