Chicago rapper Chief Keef is headed back to jail following a Wednesday afternoon court appearance in Skokie.
A Cook County judge has sentenced Keith Cozart to 90 days in a rehab facility associated with the Cook County Department of Corrections.
Keef is 18 years old. He was sentenced to rehab after failing a random drug test ordered by the courts for an earlier traffic charge. In July, Keef was arrested for driving an excessive speed in the northern suburbs. A condition of Keef’s release on those charges was that he must take random drug tests.
He failed one in September. According to his lawyer, marijuana was found in his system. Keef will next appear in court April 3.
The rapper Tweeted just after 3 p.m. “In court Finna go to Jail Judge Wants to send me Back.”
The sheriff’s confirmed that Cozart was back in custody and was en route to the Cook County Jail on Chicago’s Southwest Side.
Cozart made his much-anticipated debut on Interscope records in December 2012 with the album “Finally Rich.” He gained notoriety last year for a gloating tweet sent from his account after rival Chicago rapper Joseph “Lil Jojo” Coleman was shot to death in the Englewood neighborhood on the South Side.
