Police said a 33-year-old Chicago man, who had suffered gunshot wounds to the chest and abdomen, was found dead Friday night near a park in Evanston, and authorities are investigating the death as a homicide.
Angel Miranda, 33, of the 2800 block of South Central Avenue, Chicago, had been in the area visiting friends, police said. According to police, Miranda’s friends discovered him and called Evanston police, who responded at 9:35 p.m. Friday to the 1800 block of Simpson Street.
Police said it is believed Miranda died at about 8 p.m. Officials said they had received and investigated a call of shots fired in that general area about 90 minutes before Miranda was discovered.
Police said Miranda was found in a yard, close to Twiggs Park. No one was in custody, and police said it appeared to be an isolated incident.
