Chauncey ‘Black’ Hanibal , one of the founding members of the group Blackstreet, is suing Teddy Riley over the usage of the name Blackstreet.  Black claims Riley has been performing under the name without Black’s permission, sine he recently bought the rights to the group name.

Black admits that originally Teddy owned the name, however, once his trademark expired  Black grabbed it up before anyone else could get it.

A rep for Riley tells TMZ,

“At this time we have no comment on ANY of the ridiculous and frivolous claims APPARENTLY being made by Chauncey Andre Hannibal aka’Black.’”

Blackstreet is scheduled to perform at the Essence Music Festival 2013 on July 4-7th….Hmm, wonder will all this mess be cleared up?
